The Pasty Cam is taking a chill today, iced over in a number of places back in the archives. We start in 2005, with Tina Hyrkas along Lake Superior’s shoreline, which is quite slippery with an icy coating over the rocks ahead. I hope Tina was choosing her steps carefully that day, so as not to take a tumble.
Our next icy excursion is with Tom Cook in 2007. Tom takes us to visit the Munising Falls. Pretty neat how it is frozen towards the top and the mound underneath, too, but the space in between is still running water.
We move ahead to 2012, with Melanie Hakala Rossi, back in the Keweenaw where she was out exploring the ice that had accumulated, totally obscuring the Big Lake from view. It never ceases to amaze me how this large body of water can get so iced over that you can barely see open water out beyond the frozen masses.
Just a couple weeks ago, Jeff Dennis and his family did some Ice Explorations out at Little Traverse. Jeff snapped the photo of his daughter checking out the ice that had formed from what I’m assuming is some pretty good wave action.
Jeff’s son, Walter Dennis is back with us again, sharing another of the GoPro videos he made on their family adventure to check out the ice along Lake Superior’s shoreline.

I too liked the first picture of the freezing waves rolling into the icy shore. I also liked the today in history segment.
