Back in 2003, Toivo was in charge while Charlie was on the road, so he snuck in this “mystery photo”, asking if anyone knew who the boy and his older sister were. Of course the guesses went right to Charlie and that was the correct answer. His family lived downstate in Keego Harbor when this photo was taken with his sister Linda. It would be a number of years later when Charlie came north to the Keweenaw to live. Charlie’s Mom provided this photo from her Shoebox of Memories.

Our second photo has another pair of folks in the snow. It was snapped by Julie Filipowitz in 2007. These two look pretty comfy, albeit kind of cold, too, sitting there enjoying the winter view from McLain State Park. I’m guessing they didn’t have a picnic that day, as it would be difficult to eat with scarves wrapped around your face to stay warm.

In case you didn’t know, the CopperDog 150 is taking place this weekend, starting tonight in Calumet. The photo here today was from the sled dog race back in 2015, taken by brockit inc, who is always on hand to take official race photos for the event. The 2018 schedule for the races can be viewed here: CopperDog 150 – 2018.

Steve Brimm shares a video with scenes from previous CopperDog 150 races that will help you get in the mood for the races tonight through Sunday. Get out and cheer on the mushers and dog sled teams along the route!

I'm still gonna get UP there or Copper Dog one of
these years. Our winter trip was out this year
because my hubby is having another knee
replacement next week and we wanted to save our
PTO hours for that. But some year......

The silence is broken. Welcome back Deb.

I'll tell ya what Deb, if you'll be UP in the July/August timeframe, Nat and I will meet you and Mr. Deb for some grub and "liquid refreshment" at the Ambassador! ;-)

An interesting article in the Free Press this morning about a process that I've been interested in since my college days at Tech.....

Great Lakes still impacted by Ice Age phenomenon

Welcome back, Deb! We were getting a little worried.
Great pix and awesome video...and that was an interesting article, Capt. All this time I thought it was just bad whisky. :-)

Thanks, guys!! Capt, we'll be UP there the end of
July and first week of August. Planning a trip to
Pictured Rocks that last weekend of July and then
on up to the Copper Country. Sounds like a plan
for sure.

I come here every day to read the posts and check it out but I seldom
comment so no-one knows I was here. :-). I'm sure a lot of others do
the same. For me, I was always taught "If you ain't got nuttin to say,
don't say it". Maybe Charlie could add some kind of counter so we
would know how many actually stopped in to take a peek.

On another note; Welcome back Deb. You were missed,
