The archives had a mini, winter lighthouse tour today, starting with a shot of the Upper Entry Light near McLain State Park. Tina Hyrkas snapped the photo while skiing there back in 2005. Sure was an icy looking shot, with the lighthouse completely surrounded and the breaker walls all coated in thick ice.

The tour continues with a flight over the Lower Entry Light in 2009. Our tour guide for this flight was E. Neil Harri, giving us quite the view of the Portage Entry on the Jacobsville/White City end. Interesting how the ice is only on the entry side of the breakwall.

We head further UP North in the Keweenaw for our next light, back in 2011. Lindsay Butala snapped this one of the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse while out doing a bit of winter exploring. Neat how she captured the beacon light shining in the shot as it made it’s rotation. Not always an easy thing to get on camera!

To round out today’s archive shots, we have a current one, also of the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse, but a different angle and surrounded by a halo! Emma Stout, the photographer that snapped this beauty first shared photos with us here on the Pasty Cam as a budding, 11 year old camera enthusiast, back in 2012. I’m glad to see she’s still snapping away, because she really has a good eye for the beauty of the Copper Country.

For today’s video feature, we’re heading south, to the U.P. shores of Lake Michigan to take an aerial tour around the campus of the Seul Choix Point Lighthouse near the town of Gulliver. Courtesy of UP Graphics.

Greetings from the Soo this morning. Working the U.P. this week, my RD flies into Marquette, Tuesday evening to work with me Wednesday and Thursday. We're only going as far north as the hospital in L'Anse however. Still great to be in the U.P. tho!!

Great review and video today!!

Mary, I'll let you know when I get back U.P. your way.

I like lighthouses. Sadly most of them are orphans and uncared for. The capture of the light shining and the halo are great.

I'm up to my neck in work, UC and this weather isn't helping either. But, I glance everyday...it's like a drug and I need my fix.

Now this year's picture of the Eagle Harbor light
is definitely one of my favorite pictures of my
favorite lighthouse.
