So many pictures, so little time... I’m talking about all the archive photos from the past years of the Pasty Cam. We only get to share a few here each day and today’s start off with a Shoebox Memory shared by Robin in Ohio back in 2006. There was plenty of speculation what all the small buildings were in the backyard, like the one the two young men are standing on. Some of the suggestions included: outhouses, root cellars, chicken houses, tool sheds, wood sheds...but Robin confirmed that it was indeed an outhouse her Dad and friend were standing on in Painesdale, on March 19, 1939 after the big snowstorm that year, which explains the height of the snow in the yards.
Not quite as much snow in the photo Brooke Gubacz shared of her son enjoying himself in the midst of a snowy day in Laurium back in 2008 on this day.
Another Shoebox oldie for the third photo, shared in 2012 from the U.P. Digitization Center, showing Mr. and Mrs. Richard Endress in 1887, preparing to set out for Whitefish Point from Sault Ste. Marie on their honeymoon with snowshoes and sled dogs. Now that’s quite a trek with sled dogs and snowshoes, too.
Since we were talking possible outhouses in the first photo, I thought it might be fun to hear more about the annual Trenary Outhouse Classic race coming up the end of February. This video was done by 906 Outdoors and covers not only the 2013 race, but the requirements for entering and the vendors that are there selling their wares, too. Looks like a fun time, for sure!

Lots of snow in the pictures today. I don't know what other paths are shoveled in picture one but it looks like they had a path shoveled to the outhouse. Probably the first one shoveled.
