We’re heading all around the U.P. today through our archive photos. Starting back in 2003, Dan Urbanski brings us a beautiful shot of the moon setting over Lake Superior. I’m assuming Dan snapped this somewhere in the Ontonagon area on the western end of the U.P.
Next we go UP North into the Keweenaw, with a 2006 view from Bill Haller in Bete Gris. The glow in the distance is Bare Bluff, shined by the winter sun.
Then Fred Koski braves the elements in 2012, for a shot of Lake Superior in the midst of a blowing snowstorm. He said the windchill was -10 that day... brrrr. Here again, I’m assuming where this was snapped and my guess is in the Huron Mountain area near L’Anse.
Our current shot for today, takes us back to the Keweenaw area, this time in Laurium, where we take an early morning walk with Barbara Bouwkamp and get treated to a glowing sunrise lighting UP the Stars and Stripes.
There truly is so much beauty all over the Upper Peninsula, it’s no wonder that so many folks enjoy coming here to enjoy time away from the big cities. Our video today, takes us on an excursion in the Munising area, with a trek to Grand Island for a peek at the ice caves over there. The only thing missing is the mile hike there and then back again over a frozen Lake Superior.

Those are all great but I think the ice cave is my favorite. We finally got a bit of snow in Milwaukee, so maybe winter has arrived. Anywho, have a great day all. Take care.

Hi I have the shot of the Mackinac Bridge in winter as one of my winter wallpapers. Nice photos throughout the gallery.
Should the Laurium Sunrise be tagged as 2018, rather than 2017? If so, don't feel bad; I put 2017 on one of the first checks I wrote this year. Mary says: Oops...you caught me, Kathryn! :-)

Fantastic video, although I still don't think you'd find me venturing inside.
Also, I am compelled to point out that except for a few days it has been 10 to 20 degrees COLDER here in northern Illinois this winter. Hardly any snow though.

I just noticed the 2005 photo. I remember when the Big Boy restaurant opened. I wonder when it closed.
