If you like winter fun, you’ll enjoy today’s archive photos. From back in 2004, Rob Wetton found a good spot in Houghton, to take in the night time view over on the Hancock side. It sure is pretty with the lights giving the town a glow of its own.

Here’s some winter fun for you...sledding at Swedetown. This shot was snapped in 2006, after several folks had requested a look at the sledding hill there and wondering what the cross country skiing conditions were at the time. Sure looks like the sledding was going strong that day, even one youngster going down on skiis!

Another fun pastime is exploring the icy shores of Lake Superior. Joy Ziemnick and Diesel were doing just that in 2014 at McLain State Park. Quite the sporting jacket Diesel is wearing in the shot. If it was as cold as we’ve had it here this past week, he surely needed the extra layer to keep warm.

Since we’re into winter fun today, the video clip is taking us back to 2010, to Krooks sledding hill in Negaunee. I wasn’t able to find out if it’s still open, as a Facebook page says they were closing back then, but it sure looks like it was a great sledding/luge type hill.

Here’s a bit of information about how the hill came about: “Krook's hill is a nonprofit recreation sledding hill. Steve Krook built it for the krook children during the Empire mine layoffs during the winter of 1980-81. He was tired of them complaining of "never having nothin to do out here". With plenty of free time and a perfect spot Steve and friends built the hill. Originally Plastric coleeko sleds were used on Krook's run. It was a tobagan run winding left and right for between a 1/4 and 1/2 mile through the woods of Neejee road. It all depended on the weather and hill conditions. 30 years later Steve's still shoveling the tons of snow off of the track, only now for the exercise and grandchildren.”

Wow...winter does make for some sweet pix and the video is a hoot! I liked the slide runs, the sofa and the smart dog laying by the fire and "Don't give me no crap." Doesn't get much better.

BTW...MTU's "College Avenue View—Streaming" cam looks very picturesque with the sun shining this morning. View in Full-screen

Nice review again today.

Alex, I've taken to the hoody, I feel like I've been rode hard and put away wet!

Wear it religiously...keeping your head and throat warm helps to take the edge off of a virus.
...and then you;
