It's one of those "theme" days here in the Pasty Cam archives. All about logs is the subject, which begins in 2005, with a shot from Brita Haapala. She captured the action of this family crew of guys building a new log sauna. Hard labor, but well worth the sweat put into it when you fire up that stove and luxuriate in the hot steam.

The log Grant Soehnel photographed in 2006, was still standing, but just barely it looks like. That overhang has been washed out by wave after wave on Lake Superior. I wonder if it's still standing here today, 11 years later.

Then in 2016, Barbara Bouwkamp was out on her side by side, exploring the logging roads near Big Traverse, when she drove by these logs piled high, waiting to be loaded onto logging trucks and hauled to the mills.

Since were in a logging kind of mood, let's visit with Lake Linden native and Forester for Kretz Lumber Co., Inc., Charley MacIntosh. If that name sounds familiar, it may be because his sister Donna is a regular Pasty Cam contributor. Charley takes us to Garlic Mountain in Marquette County, to talk about tree harvesting.

By Donna (Donna) on Friday, November 10, 2017 - 09:10 am: baby brother!! He and his wife, Laurie,
also own and operate the Nahma Inn in Nahma!
(shameless plug)....He's an outstanding young man
and does a wonderful job for Kretz. And he and his
lovely wife brought Nahma back to life too! He's
just an awesome guy!!

Well that "Tree Harvest with Kretz Lumber" video certainly was disappointing. Just when I thought we were going to see that tree harvester in action the video ends? Whut? Oh foo!

Remembering and God's blessings to the brave crew
of the Edmund Fitzgerald that went down on this
day 1975. As well God's Blessings to the families
and friends of the 29 man crew.

Nature vs. machine...nature vs. ship...who won?

Not sure if this will work, you may have cut and paste into Google:

As we remember the night the Edmund Fitzgerald went down, I am
also thinking of Eddie Fitz who was such a faithful follower of and
correspondent to Pasty Cam. RIP.

Every November 10th the thoughts and prayers are the same for the remaining family and friends of the Fitz's crew.

Or, if you put that URL ( inside a construct like this:

… then when your message is posted you'll get a clickable link, like so:
