You can imagine (or maybe you can't) the vast number of photos that are stored in the Pasty Cam archives, with a wide variety of subjects throughout the almost 20 years on the World Wide Web. Today's archive review gives us a glimpse of locales we enjoyed visiting, such as waterfalls. Back in 2002, Susan Hooker checked out the Canyon Falls and found them running high for this time of year. With all the precipitation we've been having here UP North, I'm betting the flowage is going strong now, too.

In 2012, Taka Aoki took us for a look at downtown Houghton at night. Photographing nightlife was one thing Taka did well and this shot looking down Sheldon Ave. is a good example of that. I really like the way the traffic is a blur with the buildings standing out tall and clear.

Then Chad Johnson took us to the outdoors in a wooded area near Lake Linden with an interesting photo in 2016. He captured how nature decorates for Fall, with this outstanding shot of some mushrooms growing just perfectly on a cut-off spot of a tree, almost like they're framed there for all to see.

Our bottom photo is one snapped by Claire Haapala who entered this photo in the Northwoods Conservancy 2017 Photo Contest. Claire's photo was chosen as the 2nd Runner-UP in the Honorary Category and since we've featured photos from this young photographer in the past, I picked hers to feature for the contest results, today. If you're interested in viewing the winners in all the categories, you can click on the following link to take you to the webpage: 2017 Northwoods Conservancy Photo Contest. Congratulations Claire and all the winners.

We've been getting snow off and on for the past week here in the Keweenaw, so the roads range from bare, to wet, to slick, depending on where you're driving and when. Today's video takes us back to this summer with a drive from Hancock to Houghton, including the Bridge Construction that seemed to go on forever. This will serve as a reminder that even in the summer we had to slow down for something... so remember to adjust your driving accordingly at present, to accommodate slippery roadways this time of year.

That 1st picture is so amazing. I love Canyon
Falls!

I'm with Deb on this one. I love any waterfalls. I could sit and listen to them and watch them for hours while I am thinking thoughts of how I can turn granite into gold.

I agree, Deb...violent beauty! The video was the coolest, bestest, too. The view was exactly what I witnessed on the Wing when coming back from Copper Harbor heading towards Baraga, where I usually holed up. The curves, no windshield, the time of day all bring back memories...thanks for the ride.

In earth time humans are a blur,
a shock,
a Kudzu outbreak,
an asteroid impact..
