The theme from today's archive of shots is more of a "close-up" look at the Autumn Leaves. Beginning with the photo featured back in 2002, snapped by Z-Man. That's quite a selection of colors and variety of leaves that he found piled up on the ground. A little bit of everything there.

An interesting combination in the next photo from 2006, taken by Dave Dalquist. Not as colorful, but the composition of the leaves floating in the water, with the sand and rocks below makes the photo unique. I especially like seeing the shadows of the leaves as they're floating by.

Then in 2012, Marilyn Bachorik looked higher into the trees to get a closer look at the leaves in their color array. The brilliant orange in this one makes you "oh and ah" at the beauty that we get to enjoy here in the U.P. with the changing seasons.

Barbara Bouwkamp found that same brilliance in the trees just this past week, only the color that was bursting forth was a bright red, amidst a sea of yellow leaves in the trees behind. Barb's simple statement with her photo sums it up quite well…"Fall leaves very pretty!"

There's another musical treat in today's video, along with Autumn Leaves on the ground, in the trees and floating down. The music is compliments of Nat King Cole back in 1955, with his rendition of a classic song written by Johnny Mercer. He actually wrote it in French, in 1945 titled, Les Feuilles Mortes, which translated means "The Dead Leaves". Then in 1947 he wrote English lyrics, which made it popular in both languages as a pop and jazz tune with a singer and as an instrumental, too.

AHHHHHHH! It only comes once a year, but it's worth the wait.

Love the photos of the fall foliage.
I agree with Deb and love this time of year. In fact, I love it so much I wish it would last until Spring.

Hard to pick a favorite ~ and what better song for the video! Beautiful color and can't you just see the trout hiding in those pools? Yes, about 4 months of Octobers would be fine with me, but i'd start them in August!
