You just never know what we're going to find in the archives each and every day. In the midst of October, you picture fall leaves of varied colors and then BAM... Mother Nature throws in an early snowfall, like back in 2006. This shot was snapped on Front Street in Lake Linden on my morning walk. It's not unusual to get some snow in October and normally it's not much, so it usually melts off in a day or two.
Doug Smith photographed the leaves accumulated on the bench in the second photo from 2008. That's a more typical scene for this time of year than the snowy shot. I'd like to be right there, so I could swish the leaves to the ground and hear the crackle and crunch as they fall in a heap on the ground. Then to just sit back and watch as more drop down from the branches.
What an absolutely delightful burst of color Mary Schmitt captured back in 2014, when she stopped at Haven Falls in Lac La Belle. The falls there are somewhat dwarfed by all the autumn hues surrounding the area. It's almost as an afterthought, that my eyes finally noticed there was a cascade of water in the shot, too, since the colors just grabbed my attention so well.
Pure Michigan produces a number of videos with Tim Allen narrating about the beauty to be found in Michigan. The one featured here today has a number of scenes around the Keweenaw that I recognized, along with other spots across the U.P., too. It's a good reminder to slow down and take a deep breath of the pure Upper Michigan fresh air.

I remember being up there a few years ago in October and it snowed. It was just so strange to see the beauty of the autumn colors with snow coming down. I love the last 2 pictures. Autumn in Michigan is just so beautiful. Loved the video, also.

Always enjoy the Pure Michigan videos with Tim Allen doing the voice over.
Just like yesterday, you can't beat Autumn and waterfalls!

With the exception of the first picture that I absolutely hated, today's fall pictures were outstanding.

What a day...last minute filers. The pix and video are just the break that I needed...thanks for the paws. (2015 - therapy dogs)

For some reason, I never associated Tim Allen as the voice of the Pure Michigan ads, but now I hear it.
Trust me Duane, you'd take the snow over the weather we've had to endure here the past few weeks.... :P

I have been back to the U.P. many an October. And many an October, I have come face to face with frost and or snow there. Here's hoping next week will be snow free when we go to the UP to close the family camp.

Kosk: In the mid 50's to mid 60's next week with the only rain forecast on Sunday the 22nd. Looks like good closing camp weather. Forecast is for the Ishpeming area.

I'm with you, Duane. That first picture isn't very pretty, lol. But the 2nd two more than make up for it.
