Waterways and a lake make up our archive theme for today's Pasty Cam. Beginning in 2003, with a reflective view of the Houghton waterfront, snapped by Donn de Yampert. Most recognizable are the Michigan Tech buildings and then the Super 8 hotel on the waterfront. Most enjoyable is the double pleasure of the colors on land and water.
Then in 2007, Shawn Malone was on the shores of Lake Fanny Hooe in Copper Harbor and captured the colors surrounding the lake, with a bonus of color from the kayaks on the shoreline. Fanny Hooe held some reflections also, the clouds and blue sky showed up in the water there.
E. Neil Harri flies us over the Hancock dock on the Portage Canal where the freighter Canadian Progress was docked, unloading the winter supply of road salt for the Keweenaw. Quite the operation there.
Our video excursion today, is right there at the same Hancock dock that Neil photographed only this time it's the Algowood, backing up to the dock. I'm just guessing here, because the video doesn't show any unloading, but I would think this freighter was delivering road salt then, too.

What beautiful pictures and I loved that video. Just watching those freighters brings me joy. Thanks for a great start to my Monday!

Nice review pix and video! I wonder if that vessel uses a Backup Camera System with sensors like the one I have on my truck...works great.

While watching today's video of the Algowood, YouTube suggested several other videos (as they always do).
This one, showing rarely seen history of the various generations of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge (officially the Houghton–Hancock Bridge) is of particular interest.
Live from Brockway Mountain, it's the Alex "UP-Goldwinger" lone red tree hunt. I was successful today from atop Brockway.
Very overcast and drizzly today. There were some modest yellows in the valley but we are still a solid week to 10 days from peak.

This is a fair representation of today's color on Brockway.
Nice pix D.A.! I've spent many a pleasant ride on the Wing, cruising that mountain drive.
