You may recall a few months ago, a video I made while at the top of Quincy Mine, leaning out the back catwalk. Here's another couple's take on that same unbeaten path. They don't quite complete their count of the steps :o) But I can tell you from personal experience, there are 178.
Of course they had to walk past the "Authorized Personnel Only" sign (we wouldn't recommend), and that brings us to picture theme of the day, from the last 19 years of the Pasty Cam: signs. It's pretty rare we feature a picture from year #1 (1998), but I remember preparing those 2 shots together, that Jonathan had captured at Copper Harbor, one of my earliest attempts to "photoshop", which has become a generic word like "Kleenex". Although it's a product name, it has become the verb in common use for photo editing processes.
I remember preparing the picture of the day in 1999, another one from Jonathan of the road work on US-41 just down the hill from the Snow Thermometer, which happens to be the first subject that appeared on this website in 1995, even before we acquired the "pasty.com" address in 1996. I didn't prepare the 2009 photo from Marsha Galbraith for publication though, because by that time Mary Drew was on-board as the weekday Pasty Cam moderator.
Thanks for stopping by for another daily stroll down memory lane, as we continue toward the finish line of 20 years of the Pasty Cam. We are in the process now of making this entire website mobile-friendly, because more and more folks tell us they view these pages on a phone or tablet. Maybe we can finish 20 years in the old format, and start the next 20 years with the upgraded look and feel?
Have a good week :o)

And a very pleasant stroll it was, Charlie!
Thanks!

Thanks for the stroll, Charlie. And yes, many
times I read this from my phone while at work if I
don't have time in the morning before I leave.
For the most part I don't have a problem, for
which I'm grateful. But I'm sure you'll make it
even better.

That video has me waxing philosophical: "If a body falls down the staircase in Quincy Mine, does it make a sound?"
