It's that time of year, both in the archives and here UP North…Fall, a time for harvesting fruits and vegetables, along with color changes. We look back to 2006, with Mary Baril, who captured a shot of her son-in-law picking apples. I'm assuming he's up high on a ladder so he can get the choice apples at the top of the tree.
The following year (2007) on this date, David Woon shared some of the brilliant color he found in an oak tree along Great Sand Bay. The colors are already starting to appear this year, a bit earlier than usual, I think, but we're nowhere near peak color yet.
Then in 2010, Brenda Leigh shared her bushel basket harvest, including a number of Roma tomatoes that she made into a batch of HOT salsa. Those tomatoes look yummy enough to bite into right there from the basket and that zucchini puts visions of zucchini bread in my head. Gardening rewards!
Speaking of gardening rewards, Patty Rheault has plenty of them at her Bootjack farm, where they just about daily have the bounty of the harvest there for sale…sweet corn, carrots and beets in today's photo. Nothing like fresh from the garden delights!
Today's video treat is an episode of Discovering from 2014 that featured the annual gathering of Monarch Butterfiles at Stonington Peninsula, along with a segment on the Dancing Crane Farm and the Downtown Marquette Farmers Market. Sit back and enjoy!

Going to a produce stand and buying fresh vegetables just harvested is the best. Nothing else tastes so good unless you grow it in your own backyard.

Mmmm. These pictures make me hungry. And those oak leaves make me homesick. You never see oak leaves out here. Those Roma tomatoes look wonderful also. We've gotten some good tomatoes this year which is rare for us. They're so sweet and delicious! Maybe BLT's should be in order for supper tonight!!

Nice colorful pix and a great-looking video. I started to watch it, but will have to finish it when I get home tonight. Suggestion; view it in FULL SCREEN, it's fantastic.

...just finished watching the video, such a different way of life. After dealing with fast food joints and Starbucks, it's hard to imagine. Another place and time.
