Today's archive review takes us to several U.P. locations, actually towns that sit on the borders of the Yoop. We start way UP North at Copper Harbor, back in 2004. Joseph Hurley was there for a visit and snapped a shot of the Copper Harbor Marina with a number of boats tied up there. It's a great place to tie up and enjoy all that the Harbor has to offer.

Next location is as far south as the U.P. goes…Mackinac Island. We visited this spot back in 2011. The statue there on the Island is a replica of the famous Statue of Liberty, one of 200 across the country, donated by the Boy Scouts of America for their 40th anniversary. In the summer, Mackinac Island is "home" for about 50 Boy and Girl Scouts each week, as they serve as the Island Governor's Honor Guard. The Scouts raise and lower all the flags in the city and in Fort Mackinac, along with acting as guides throughout the Island, dressed in their Scout uniforms. They stay in the Scout Barracks located behind Fort Mackinac and complete a service project during their week-long stay there. Quite an experience for these young men and women.

Our final stop today is on the northeast border of the U.P., at Sault Ste. Marie. Back in 2014, Keith Baker snapped this city skyline view from aboard the Cason J. Callaway, as he guided the freighter through the Soo Locks that day. The Tower of History, all lit up, stands out and the Coast Guard Base there, also.

A neat find for today's video, a short newsreel between movies from 1944, featuring Mackinac Island. It starts on the North American cruise ship as it leaves Chicago, heading to the Island. Great peek back in time.

Great video! Even a discussion of proper pronunciation!
