In the past 19 years, the Pasty Cam has featured a myriad of photos of so many different subjects. Today’s look back into the archive brings us examples of why people either live in the Keweenaw or come UP North to visit. We start in 2000, with a photo of a road construction upgrade to the main thoroughfare that leads to Traprock Valley, outside of Lake Linden. Work…some folks live here because of their work, others may come here to work on a job such as this one seventeen years ago.

Slide ahead one year, to 2001 and we join Patti Vickers and her family at Houghton’s Chutes and Ladders playground on the waterfront. Vacation…some folks come UP North to visit family and to enjoy fun times away from home.

Move on to 2007, with Pete Rytkonen for an exploratory visit to the Canyon Falls just outside of L’Anse. Located on M-26, these falls are often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of the U.P.” Exploring…hiking and exploring is a pastime that many Yoopers enjoy and plenty of folks come to the Upper Peninsula to do just that. So many places to explore, so little time.

2011 the picture of the day was snapped by Brenda Leigh in Menominee, where she met up with a motorcycle group comprised of Veterans who were riding in memory of those that didn’t make it home from the Vietnam War. Service…then there are folks like these motorcyclists who are here in the U.P. to serve, their country, their fellow servicemen, their communities.

Today’s video is the perfect example of why most visitors come UP North. It combines a number of the reasons listed here above. So, sit back and enjoy seven days in the Keweenaw, all in the span of just over four minutes!

Love the vid...the music is awesome too!

I agree with Donna, the video was great and the music was outstanding. Never heard those girls before.
Looked like the young lady in the video had a pail for raspberries and one for thimbleberries. I know there are a lot of thimbleberry fans but I am not one of them. To my taste buds they taste like snow and it takes about 30 of them to make a dozen so it seems like the berry pail never gets full.

"Loved the video …"

Oh yes, ditto that!

Unfortunately my creaky ol' carcass isn't up to much of that anymore <sigh!> — except for the delicious looking "monk"-ey business (The Jampot) at ≈ 3:21-3:25. I could do that 'til I need a tummy sling!

The berry pickin' scene reminded me of competing with the bears for buckets full of raspberries along the fence rows back on the farm.

(I wasn't nearly as thrilled with those raucous screeching banshee(s) in the sound track though. Thank heaven for the mute switch!)

Nice photos & review , thumbs up to our Vietnam Vets, and a big thanks!! Enjoyed the video & music as well!

FRNash, We all know that when you clicked on the video and the music started, you stood up from your chair and danced around it while you watched the video, I did too!! lol :=)) Turn that frown upside down Pal !!

Ouch! Now I am ill! <grin>

How about any of these for music, much more to my preference.
I guarantee, this will not be what you're expecting!
(Suomalaiset puhujat ottavat huomioon!):

1. (click →) California Dreamin' (Youtube audio, 2 min. + 48 sec.)
… or, given this summer's experience, maybe that should be California Burnin'?
2. (click →) Pretty Woman (Youtube audio, 2 min. + 51 sec.)
… Yes, I was a Roy Orbison fan, too.
3. (click →) In the Summertime (Youtube video, 2 min. + 11 sec.)}
… You remember Mungo Jerry (1970)?

That last one's a real genuine hoot! Did someone say (click →) ZZ Top?
I used to be much more into "pop" music in high school and my early college days, the likes of (click →) American Bandstand, ye dogs I feel old!
And (click →) The Mamas & the Papas, and other music of that era.
But I kind of lost interest on (click →) "The Day the Music Died".
