Our look into the archives today gives us a glimpse of what Mother Nature creates here UP North for us all to appreciate. In 2005 we tagged along with Tina Hyrkas to Manitou Island, where she found an interesting arch. Naturally made, probably over centuries of wave action on the rocks…pretty amazing.

Then in 2014, we go with Pam Heide-Olgren to a beautiful sandy beach along Lake Superior's shoreline, where a natural shelf/wall had formed from wave action depositing more sand on the beach and washing some of it away again. Interesting what the power of the Big Lake can do.

Our third photo today, was snapped by Dar Kuusisto in Eagle Harbor recently, while a fog bank was rolling in. When I first looked at the photo, I was wondering what hill or mountain that could be behind the lighthouse there…then I realized it was the fog bank. Indeed, Mother Nature sure gets creative around these parts.

In our feature video, we head east from the Keweenaw, to Munising and a visit to Sand Point, where an interesting sand bar has formed just off shore. Don't forget your sunscreen!

was Bare Bluff, but how did the Eagle Harbor light
get parked in front of it? lol!

That beach sand wall reminds me of staying at my grandpas, brothers, place out in Sedar Bay. I was 21 yrs. old and made a trip up here with my grandpa and stayed at Seder Bay. Was watching the storm over the lake and fell asleep on the couch. Woke up the next morning and opened the front door, to the beach, and there was like a 3-4 foot drop off. My first thought was, one heck of a storm...
