Today's look back into the archive picks out a few of the ways folks have explored the Keweenaw and beyond, starting back in 2007 with Jeff Kalember over at Isle Royale. He had taken a six day course on the ecology of the Island, in which they canoe/portaged from Malone Bay to Siskiwit Lake to Intermediate Lake to Lake Ritchie and back to Rock Harbor via Lake Superior. That's definitely a "hands-on" course.

Then in 2009, Charlie shared a Shoebox Memory about "Wrong-way Corrigan" that ran in the Ironwood Daily Globe on this day in 1938. The story goes that Douglas P. Corrigan astonished the world with his unheralded flight from New York to Dublin, Ireland in an old dilapidated, single-motored airplane.

In 2010, the Pasty Cam featured photos from Joe Kirkish, of the 7th annual End o' the Road - Keweenaw Tour & Car Show. The vintage cars drove in a mile-long line from Calumet to Copper Harbor. Once there in the Harbor, the owners parked them so folks could walk and gawk at the cars from "back in the day".

TV6 covered the event five years later in 2015, so we get the pleasure of watching them in action today, too, along with a little background on the event.

A great diversity of pictures today. I like the picture of the falls coming out of Siskiwit Lake.
