So many fun things to do in the summer here in the Keweenaw. Today our look-back into the archives of the past 19 years, focuses on the simple, fun things of summer days, like the photo snapped by Tom Kirby. That's his son skipping stones across the surface of Lake Superior back in 2003. Finding the perfect flat rock, throwing it at just the right angle and watching it skim the top of the water, skipping along the way…it's definitely a summer talent.
A day at the beach wouldn't be complete without being buried in the sand at some point. The second archive photo today was snapped back in 2010 by Dorothy Jamison. These five kiddos got together for some beach fun and ended up with only their heads and feet sticking out of the sand.
Jessica Gariepy and her family recently made the trek to the Canyon Falls along the Sturgeon River just past L'Anse. Her boys were exploring the exposed rock bed along the river shoreline and paused for Mom to take a "memory" shot of their adventure.
Summer fun in the Copper Country wouldn't be complete without a campfire, so today's video takes us to McLain State Park for a relaxing moment in front of a crackling fire. Only thing missing is a stick with a roasting marshmallow on it.

Very enjoyable pictures today. Nice to see the youngsters outdoors having fun and enjoying the summer. Also liked the video. I think that is the first time I sat watching a campfire and the smoke wasn't blowing my way.

What fun pictures today. I'm with mickill, except if like to add some burned marshmallows. Or as my young granddaughter always said, "smushmellows".
