Throughout the past 19 years, we've seen many different modes of transportation that have appeared here on the Pasty Cam. Some older ones showed up as Shoebox Memories, like the first picture today. Clyde Elmblad was a frequent contributor of historic photos like this one of the Baraga lumber operation featured in 2004. This scene is at the docks near the bottom of Keweenaw Bay on the L'Anse side, where ships were loaded with wood, bound for the Soo Locks and beyond.

The next year, in 2005, Daryl Laitila shared a photo of a three-masted, 137 foot schooner called the S/V Denis Sullivan. This ship sails the Great Lakes, the Atlantic Ocean and the tropical waters of the Caribbean as an educational platform, scientific research vessel and for nautical training on sailing. In Daryl's photo, it had just passed under the Portage Lift Bridge and was getting ready to dock on the Houghton waterfront.

Then in 2014, Melodie Provost Holmes was in Copper Harbor when she snapped the third shot of the Isle Royale Queen pulling in at the Harbor. She was returning from a Sunset Cruise, getting ready to pull up to the dock there that she calls home.

For some reason, the modes of transportation featured this day in Pasty Cam history were mostly boats and a few cars in the first shot, but of course there are other forms of transportation here UP North. Sally Beaudette captured the fourth photo of the bicycle gang that her grandkids and daughter-in-law are a part of. Pretty rough looking bunch... I sure hope you don't meet them in a dark alley.

Speaking of bikes for transportation, the video we share here today shows what it's like to Mountain Bike four trails in two minutes, in the Marquette area. Hang on for the ride!

Love the kids, of all ages, on the bikes, get them up and out on a beautiful day. :O
I love to see the adults out there with the kids, too.....lead by example.

Very nice photos and review. Really liked the video, but I couldn't help think that they might be heading to a trip to the ER at MGH, pretty wild!! :=))

If the pic of the Isle Royale Queen III is in Copper Harbor then it is long before 2014 because the Queen IV was there by then.

Bob & I sailed the Queen for a Sunset Cruise. It
was awesome, freighter chased down the Mesabi
Miner out in Lake Superior's shipping lanes.
