Yesterday was the official first day of summer, so in looking back through the archives, I thought it was fitting to find a few summer activities that people enjoy here UP North! Looking back to 2005, Aladino Mandoli was at the Cliffs in Marquette to photograph the brave jumpers. This one pictured was celebrating his graduation from Marquette Senior High School. Oh, to be young and fearless again... maybe not.
Another great summer activity is heading out on the road for a vacation. That's what Jeff Kalember and his son "Bear" were doing in 2006, when they stopped for this photo op with Babe the Blue Ox and Paul Bunyan, just north of St. Ignace.
Who doesn't love water sports? Bobbie DeRoche and her family were camping this past weekend at the Hancock Beach Campground, when she snapped the third photo here today, showing a variety of fun water activities... kayaking, paddle boarding and stick fetching, too!
Going back to the rock jumping, if you're a chicken like me and would never be able to take the plunge, today's video from Haylee Brandtwill give you the experience without the fear of taking that first step off the cliff or even getting wet. Get ready, get set... JUMP!

Good Morning from Sault Ste. Marie... Great pix and video. The way my week is going I need to head to the Black Rocks!! If I didn't think I'd have a heart attack or drowned, maybe I would, too dang old now! lol. Jumping from out there is not the problem, climbing back up the rocks or swimming into the shore is!! :=)) The video brings back many great memories, and is one of many reasons that Marquette is a Fantastic place to live and go to school!!

Never in my wildest dreams could I jump off of the Black Rocks. Can't wait to see them again though.
Glad you're able to get up there again, Uncle Chuck.
