Way back in 2000 - before the days of 'Cam Notes', when there was only the 'big picture' - we featured the top view of the Huron Mountains on the horizon. This sparked a discussion over the years about Huron Mountain Club, private retreat of Henry Ford and others, where Megan McDonald was working with the children in 2010 (today's video). There is some interesting history about road building in that region from Michiganhighways.org in a piece titled, "M-35: The Highway Henry Ford Stopped". And I second Megan's take on Lake Superior :o)

Just to the west of the HMC is the Skanee area, home of Witz Marina, featured on this day in 2010. That's the home of the Huron Bay Club, a little more accessible to the public than the Huron Mountain Club. No doubt summer visitors are arriving as we speak.

Watching Megan again, I captured this frame as I noticed a couple of things: Just over her left shoulder you can see Mt. Bohemia, Bare Bluff, the Brockway Ridge and more:
