We're into the 20th year here on the Pasty Cam and while looking back into the archives it amazes me with the history of the area we've covered throughout these years. Looking back just on today's date, we find in 2001, where Charlie was making a visit to the E-Center in Lake Linden, which was the former St. Joseph Catholic School. On Charlie's visit that day, he mentioned an Open House that was being held that day. He also talked about PastyNET having an office there as well, due to the concentration of dial-in members in the Village of Lake Linden at that time. Now wireless is the way to go and PastyNET can provide that in many locations across the Keweenaw.

Still in the Lake Linden area, out on the Bootjack Road, Robert C. Wetton (RCW) shared a photo of the Dreamland Hotel from back in the day. This photo appeared on the Pasty Cam back in 2004, but there was no year listed for when it was taken. Of note is the big wraparound porch... it was there back then and is still there today. This business has been a cornerstone of the Bootjack area for a long time. Great to see it still going strong today.

Keeping the history alive here in the Keweenaw is important, so it's great to see the movement to restore the Mineral Range Depot in Calumet underway. Bob Gilreath is volunteering to help with this project and he shares a photo taken a few days ago, showing the depot, with a Calumet 4th grade class that was given a tour of the building. There was an open house held this past weekend there, to kick off the fundraiser and get the word out to folks. Copper Country Explorer has a page with the history of this Calumet Depot where you can find more photos and information. This link will take you there: Mineral Range Depot. If you'd like to be part of the project, you can donate through a GoFundMe page here: Help Preserve the Calumet Depot.

Speaking of trains and depots, I thought it was neat to see the Torch Lake Calumet & Hecla Steam Engine #3 busy at work in Greenfield village. Hope you enjoy the sight and sounds on the video too!

What a neat video. And I'm really enjoying this
look back at some of these pictures. They're
definitely worth a second look, and especially for
those of us who haven't been around from the
start. Would still like to see more current
pictures also, but truly am ckenjoying this look
back. Thanks for taking us back.

It does my heart good to see the restoration of old buildings. The old railroad depots are a favorite of mine and they are disappearing far to rapidly. Lighthouses are also falling into a state of disrepair and are moldering away. Budgets are a matter of priority and history gets short shrift in that regard.

Cool pix, info and video! Greenfield Village, although not UP, is a MI gem with a plethora of historical activities.
