A sunset or a sunrise is always so calming and peaceful, so it's fitting that over the past 19 years, we've chosen innumerable sunsets and sunrises to pause at the end of each month and remember those that have left us too soon. We revisit an inspiring scene we shared back in 2012, snapped by Shawn Malone to honor those who have recently passed on

A slight twist in my post this morning;
My co-worker informed us last week that a lump in her breast had been detected. A biopsy was performed and it turned out to be benign. This beautiful lady, who is wife and mother of two teenage daughters, is going to be okay.
My condolences to those who have lost love ones.

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 - 02:37 pm:

In memory of my boxer dog Chip, who went to the Rainbow Bridge
on May 17. Run and play, Chip, and mommy and I will see you
again someday.

In loving memory of our mother, Lillian Hopp of Cheboygan,
who passed away on May 1, 2011. Rest in peace and comfort
in the hands of our Lord.

Happy for your friend, Alex.

Remembering my dad who would have been 90
yesterday. Sure do think about him a lot.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 - 07:48 pm:

And for a seventh year, we remember our son Matthew Peter
George Attalai who died in Afghanistan. May and November are
always hard for our family because of Memorial Day (U.S.A.) and
Remembrance Day(Canada), but we are doubly blessed too because
of the support and love of our family and friends in both countries.
Matt is buried in a beautiful spot--Evergreen Cemetery in Eagle
River. Like everyone else in our family, he loved the U.P. Part of
him will always be there, but one day we hope to meet him in the
Kingdom of Heaven--an even better place full of love and free from
war and divisions of all kinds. We paid our respects at Matt's grave
and the graves of Edie Hopper and the Stecks last Saturday, May
27th.

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 - 11:05 pm:

Remembering Paavo Hilska of Ishpeming, who died 4 years ago today, he was 80 years old. He was our Finnish vocalist for the Kilpela and Friends Finnish Polka Band. Sure miss his singing. He only sang in Finn. He worked for the Marquette County Road Commission. I brought my Mimi's cremains up to Lakeview Cemetary Saturday. She's with her Mom and Dad there now. Her spirit is with her Lord Jesus. PTL!

Thank you so kindly.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Thursday, June 1, 2017 - 12:10 pm:

Ken--I'm so glad that you were able to bring your Mimi back to the
Copper Country. Saturday was a good day weather wise to do that.
Bless you and bless Mimi's memory.

I believe I had the pleasure of hearing Paavo Hilska singing in
Finnish. I don't have the CD I purchased from you a few years ago
with me back here in Toronto. Was he singing on that one? I keep
the CD with me at camp where I can listen to it with my cousins
when they come to visit.
