Though Memorial Day is observed this coming Monday, looking back through the Pasty Cam archives there were a number of years it fell on this day, the 25th. Since it is a day set aside to honor Veterans who have died serving our country, I thought it fitting to honor them from the archives today also.
Back in 2009, we took a look at the Veterans memorial in Covington. The VFW post and AMVETS, along with DesRochers Brothers, Inc., erected this military memorial adjacent to Veterans Memorial Highway. It's right before you turn on Highway 141 towards Crystal Falls.
Then in 2015, Jeff Dennis took us to the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, where an American flag, a beautiful patch of blooming phlox and a military marker decorate the grave of a veteran who served our country.
Just a week ago Mary Schmitt joined her son Chad (an Army Veteran) and his kids at Mount Calvary cemetery in Lake Linden, getting ready to place flags on all the Veteran's graves. What a valuable lesson this family is sharing with their young ones!
And finally, today’s video reminds us that freedom isn’t free, and remembers those brave men and women who have paid the price.

That is a lot of markers. May we all honor, deserve and live a life that's worthy of all those sacrifices.
