Today is a bit of follow-up to my Sunday notes 2 weeks ago. I mentioned that my mother and I survived a tornado hitting her house in Alabama, where I've been spending the winter. The cleanup and repairs have taken a lot of effort. Tomorrow her roof is being completely replaced.
The picture I chose today - our daily highlight from the past 19 years of the Pasty Cam - is the carving on Breakfast Lake in Wakefield, that appeared on this day in 2005. In searching for a video of Wakefield, I discovered that a tornado had ripped through the town last summer, on July 12. The video from Heith Gagnon relates the devastation, and I was wondering why I didn't hear about this at the time? Then it occurred to me... I happened to be in Alabama that day. It was only a 2 day visit last summer, making arrangements to spend the winter there, so I missed the U.P. tornado. Ironic that a tornado here has now delayed my return to the U.P.
Have a good week :o)

Wow! That video was scary! I don't know how I
haven't noticed the devastation when we've traveled
through there on the way home. Will definitely pay
closer attention next month. Thanks for sharing
that!
