If you've been a long time viewer here on the Pasty Cam, you'll recognize the name of today's photographer and perhaps even pick out some of the photos he's taken throughout the years. Dan Urbanski stepped in early on to help advance the mission of the Pasty Cam to bring a daily photo of the U.P. to the website, sharing his talents with all of us over and over. He left us way too soon, as he passed on in 2004, leaving innumerable photos behind to remind us of his keen eye and expertise behind the lens. We here at Pasty Central miss his talents and appreciate all Dan did to help throughout the years.
Today's photos were taken back in 2002, on a hike that Dan took with friends, including Sara, his office manager and exploring pal, to the "back" side of Lake of the Clouds in the Porcupine Mountains. You can tell by her posture and attire, that it was quite chilly that year on May 1st and not too much has changed fifteen years later here UP North. This past week we had snow, ice, winds and cold, enough snow and ice that school was even canceled last Thursday.
UPGraphics.com made an aerial visit to the Lake of the Clouds on a much warmer day, so to take the chill out of the page today we're joining them on the tour... fasten your seatbelts, we're ready for takeoff!

R.I.P. Dan Urbanski . . . can't believe it's been that long since he departed.

Is there a gallery where you can purchase some of his work?

Beautiful video! I see they have erected a stone wall around the cliff, which was not there a few years ago. I remember walking out to the edge and just sitting there, taking in the view. And Dan the Man...he is surely missed.

Dan's photos were always so beautiful. He had a Border Collie that was featured in a lot of his photography as well. He new how to work a camera.

Harold, I'm not sure if his gallery is still open. I Googled it and found this address and phone numbers, but no webpage. You could try the phone number and see if you connect with someone. Let us know what you find out, please!
