Countless numbers of people have appeared in the past 19 years on the Pasty Cam. Some of them have been Yoopers, some have been visitors and some have wished they were a Yooper. Our look back today, takes us to 2004, where Patricia Forgrave captured her husband and son doing a bit of wave watching on a chilly springtime Lake Superior shoreline. I'm not sure which category they belong to, but standing on Superior's shore on a cold, windy day makes me think they must be Yooper tough.
The following year, in 2005, it was warmer, so Brita Haapala was snapping pictures of her Yooper kiddos running and having a blast at Chutes and Ladders in the Houghton Park. Talk about a difference in weather from year to year.
Fast forward to last year and we were remembering a special lady who touched all our lives here at Pasty Central. Edie Hopper... she may not have been born a Yooper, but she transplanted here early on and raised her family in the Keweenaw, so I think she qualifies as a Yooper Mom and Wife. RIP Edie, you are missed!
Kelly Grandinetti is a born and raised Yooper who lives somewhere else now. She was home this past week for a visit and snapped a shot of Clark Kent (a.k.a. her hubby Mark) making use of one of the phone booths in Mason. Who knew that Superman is a "wanna-be Yooper"?
It definitely is a coveted title for many and one that is often disputed, whether you are or you aren't if you weren't born here in the U.P. Today's video is a song performed by Seth Charles Krause who croons about being Almost a Yooper. Sing it Seth!

Great pictures. I made sure to turn the volume way up so my hubby could hear the song. He loved it! It's how he feels too, though he wasn't born only 5 miles away, lol.
I really liked the video and song, and the ending is CLASSIC!!

Great pix and Edie looks good in that photo. "Save a place for us, Edie." Cool video too, the ending reminded me of a baptism of sorts.

Yup, enjoyed listening to "I'll Be a Yooper Someday." And, of course, it made me homesick. I get to be a temporary one again for a couple of months every summer, and I'm grateful.

Charlie, Since Edie's passing you have had a year of many challenges and changes and tough decisions. We pray you are resting in His perfect will and remembering the happy times.
