Today as we look back into the Pasty Cam archives, we come UP with a few "scenic" beauties. The first one was snapped by Aimee Rathbun in 2005, looking down the Portage Canal toward the Lift Bridge. Always a scenic view whenever the Bridge is included in a photo, for sure.
We jump ahead ten years to 2015 and travel south east from Houghton to the town of Gwinn, where Sharon Bodenus captured a most peaceful scene as the sun was beginning to set on Little Lake. The glow in the sky and the reflection of the clouds in the water add so much to an already beautiful view. It's what I'd call "picture perfect".
To many that grew up here in the Copper Country, the Portage Lift Bridge is a symbol of home, to others it signals the beginning of their Keweenaw adventure and still others it's just their everyday highway from the island to the mainland here in the area. Today's video adventure is short and sweet…a timelapse of the Lift Bridge with traffic zipping across, a boat speeding quickly underneath and the fastest lifting of the middle span for the Ranger III to go through, that I've ever seen. Too bad all interruptions in the bridge traffic don't move that quickly!

The time lapse video is great fun to watch! The Little Lake image is awesome.

Nice video! I was watching a program called "Making Waves" this morning and it featured Phyllis Green, who is Superintendent of Isle Royale National Park. Her efforts to protect the environment by control invasive species in the great lakes is quite impressive. Perhaps Charlie has crossed paths with her during his visits. The Ranger III was also featured.

I like the picture of Little Lake. Looks like the remnants of somebody's dock from days gone by. Is the lake named after the town or is the town named after the lake?

Loved the time lapse of the bridge. If only it went up and down that fast.
