Today our look back in the archives gives a glimpse at what spring looked like here UP North a few years back. Each year it looks different, depending on how early it starts warming up and how much snow we received that year. Back in 2014, we had over 300 inches, so when it all of a sudden warmed up quickly, Jodi Corrigan and her family had a mess in their Lake Linden yard. They had to get someone with a bulldozer to come and make some paths to Torch Lake, so the melt would be directed there, instead of in their basements.
Then a year later in 2015, Brenda Leigh in the Brimley area, snapped a photo of her garden dedicated to her Mom. She was getting antsy to be working on her perennials planted there, so she shoveled several feet of snow to get started.
Other years, with less snow or warmer temperatures earlier in the spring, the melt is sooner. Today’s video clip was also filmed in 2015, but further west in the U.P. than Brenda’s photo, so that might explain less snow. Jim Curtis takes us just past the town of Gay, to the Tobacco River rushing to meet Lake Superior. It’s always neat to see these rivers in the spring with all the extra water from the melting snow.

Nice video and review! I have been to Fumee Falls pictured in 2006, many times. I may have mentioned this before, but we have a painting of Fumee Falls hanging in our office. It looks pretty old because there is no walkway or staircase in the painting. No one knows where it came from, either.

Spring has many faces but the 'full' waterfalls and rushing rivers are my favorite!
