You may have heard of the movie called Trains, Planes and Automobiles, but today's look back into the archives covers only the subject of trains. From the year 2012, Aladino Mandoli brought us to the tracks at the Goose Lake overpass, which is about five miles south of US41 on M35 in Negaunee. Dino saw the lights coming so he stopped his car and started shooting.

Next train shot was snapped in 2013, just a year later, but further north on US41 in L'Anse. Mark Dennis captured the Canadian National crossing the Falls River Bridge there. Quite scenic with the river flowing and the snow still outlining the banks.

Like father, like son, Jeff Dennis photographed the third train, another Canadian National. Jeff said they were climbing the L'Anse hill to Bovine when they spotted this one on the tracks and got out to watch it go by.

Our video feature today is also from Jeff Dennis. He's quite the railroad buff in case you didn't know and he convinced his wife it was a good idea to let him build a model railway around their kitchen, above the cabinets. It's pretty cool and I'm thinking I wouldn't mind having one in my kitchen, too. Jeff says, "Enjoy the scenery and thanks to Arlo Guthrie for the music."

Nice video...reminds me of a friend when I was a kid. His father build him a 12' x 12' layout made of plywood with several trap doors, so he could pop-up and make alterations & corrections. He had everything imaginable on it, from mountain caves to working train crossings & pedestrians.

Waterfalls yesterday and trains today. A couple days of really nice pictures. I wish the passenger trains were still running in the UP like they once were. The roads would be better too if the freight trains had not disappeared to the extent that they did.

I love train photos almost as much as I love photos of freighters.
Thanks for these.
