With winter winding down here UP North, there's a season that always takes place in March, called Spring Ice Show season. Back in 2013, Gail Ongie was on hand to capture the Calumet Figure Skating Club show at the Colosseum (photos 1 & 2). The costumes ranged from colorful and sparkly, to flannel and cut-offs, with fancy moves throughout.
Fast forward four years to this past weekend where the Copper Country Skating Academy held their annual Spring Ice Show at the MacInnis Student Ice Arena (photo 3). Jeff Dennis was in the audience snapping photos of his daughter (on the far right) and her group as they finished their performance by striking a pose.
These Ice Shows require many hours of hard work and often times include special guests with the young skaters. This year the Calumet Club enlisted the Dads for a memorable performance with their kiddos. Check out this video from Terri Sever. It's almost as good as being there!

Very nice number with the Dads. And you know, there are a lot of places where the Dads wouldn't have been good skaters too! But not these guys ~ they did the UP proud!

I absolutely love anything skating. It's so much fun to watch. They're just so graceful. And in the words of Tweety, "Kating?? Oooohhh, doody, doody, I wuv kating!" Don't know who remembers that but Bugs Bunny cartoons never got old in our house!! They'll always be better than anything they have on today.
