Fort Wilkins State Park in Copper Harbor hasn't really change much through the years, after being restored to the present condition, it has been maintained well. New exhibits are always being added, but the buildings like the married officers housing outside the fort gates remain the same. Nancy Nelson snapped the top photo during a visit the winter of 2009.

A newcomer to the Pasty Cam pages, Ben Granquist was in Copper Harbor to enjoy some snowshoeing recently and snapped this view of the Fort from the Keweenaw Point Trail across Lake Fanny Hooe. Things seem quiet and peaceful from that lookout spot. The ice on the lake looks almost smooth enough for skating, since the winds have kept the snow from accumulating on the surface.

If like me, you've never visited Fort Wilkins during the winter months, you should enjoy the video walk around the grounds. My favorite is hearing the crunch of the snow underfoot.

Excellent! Thanks for the tour, I really miss hiking :(

Beautiful photos! Wish I was in Copper Harbor right now!

We were fortunate not to have lost power like so many others have here in SE Michigan, but we just got our cable/internet back. Most Medical Reps offices are in the home, just a few days without internet was real trouble! Working out of our local Tim Horton's was helpful but fattening!! lol

Jbuck, thanks for the hockey update at NMU, it was time for a new direction, but I am sorry to read about Walt's marital problems.

Alex, don't forget to take a break this time of year!!

Headed to the Soo this Monday, looking forward to that, still have not got the green light on the rest of the U.P. as of yet.

Enjoy this beautiful cold weekend all!

kudos to the calumet high hockey team who reached
the
state tournament final -- and unfortunately
fell a little short today.

Thanks UC, I will. Same situation here, didn't lose power, only cable & internet.

Congrats to the Copper Kings! We are so proud of you for beating the #1 seed and getting to the finals!

Holy cow, UC! I hadn't even read "the rest of the story". This has been a tough year for Walt.

Hope the bosses wake up and give you the rest of the UP soon ~ they couldn't do better!

Wonder why the windows are boarded up in just the first cabin?

I camped there for a week in September. Nice
campground and good trails.

September is a great time in the UP. Less crowded than during fall color and usually good weather. Hope your trip made you want to come back!
