We're having fun every day on this 20th year recall of previous Pasty Cam scenes. Each day I'm reminded of other folks who have contributed so much to this visual journal of the U.P., like Z-Man, whose unique perspective of people and places are immortalized in the Archives. I see in the 19-year collection there was also a snowmobile shot on this day in 2009 from Chris Gariepy.

Thanks for all the positive comments and suggestions as we've expanded the daily format to include videos. One recurring question has been, "Will the Pasty Cam continue to have new still pictures, in addition to recalling the previous years on this day?" So this weeks we'll try intersperse some current photos to scratch that itch, and see how it goes.

It's appropriate that the original Pasty Camist, Jonathan Hopper, kicks off this coverage with these scenes from this weekend's Copper Dog. I'm sure we'll have more from this big Keweenaw event later this week. But for me it's hard to imagine anything will top shot's of Papa's "favorite Ellie" joining in the race! We had so much fun at her birthday party last weekend.

I do believe they have the race for viewing thru the computer...true, it is not like being there, but it is fun to watch. I watched them take off from downtown Calumet from the computer.

Oh, yes, i agree with the comments about having new still pictures too! A mix of old & new with the videos would get my vote.

Those Polaris snowmobiles look to be about 1967 models or so (we had one).....the thing may still be around one of our storage areas...

I too wondered if that is Papa Charlie with sweet little Ellie in the race. Looks like she's having a grand time. Grandchildren are just the best! :)
