Halli Lindley, along with her daughter and some friends, were up at the Swedetown Trails in Calumet, for some cross country skiing. At the top of the Swedetown hill is a pair of landmarks that are instantly recognizable and pinpoint right where you are in photos like here today. Those two old water towers overlook the ski trails and sledding hill. I couldn't find much information on them, except that the dark one was built by the copper mines, in 1895 and is the Swedetown water standpipe. If anyone can fill us in with more info on these landmarks, please do.
Meanwhile…Halli and her skiing partners enjoyed their late afternoon, early evening ski around the trails as evidenced by the smiles she captured. And who wouldn't enjoy getting some exercise in the fresh air, with the beautiful scenery surrounding you. I especially like the last two photos with Halli and her daughter as the sun is just beginning to color the sky and then the full on sunset reflecting off the clouds. What a beautiful ending to their skiing adventure.

Hi I was cross-country skiing at Hartwick Pines near Grayling last Saturday. Conditions were OK/icy when I got on the trails at 10:30AM but were wet and slow by the time I stopped 2 hours later. It was a beautiful day, though--bright blue skies, pine trees and a snow-covered landscape.
