Special thanks to Steve Jurmu at FunInTheUP.com for today's brief glimpse of winter conditions a couple of February's ago. I like the way you can hear the snow hit the mic on the camera, such a realistic touch, better than any soundtrack music.
You may be wondering why a weather-worn yooper like myself has spent the last few weeks wallowing in winter scenes? For one thing, as we approach year # 20 of the Pasty Cam - without ever having missed a day - it has always been our mission to bring a "Glimpse of Life in the U.P.", especially for former winter residents now living in warmer parts of the country, who fondly recall all that snow. Some may miss it and some may be glad not to have it where they are now. For the first winter in thirty years, I have joined their ranks, spending the winter-to-date with my mother in Alabama. But week after next I'll return to the Keweenaw, and I'm reminding myself, it's like a whole different world this time of year.
Charlie, enjoy your time in Alabama with your mom. Stay longer. You don't need to be in a rush to get back to the snow and cold. If you really miss it we can always ask the weatherman to send some down that way for you.

Charlie, we hope your Mom is doing well! What's the report of the weather down there?

Alabama is a beautiful place! Enjoy your stay! My mom was a born and raised Alabama lady. Birmingham is the city dad met mom during WWII.

Alabama...nice place to be right now. Beats being underneath the Oroville Dam in CA. I was watching that news event last night and it reminded me of the movie, "Earthquake". Be safe down in Alabama!
