When you have a camp on Lake Superior, you have to go there periodically during the winter months to check on things and make sure everything is holding up well with all the cold and snow here in the Keweenaw. That's just what Barb Bouwkamp and her husband, Tom did recently. Tom snowshoed in from the Big Traverse road where they parked, while Barb took the neighbor's driveway as her route and just walked it in her boots. She's since decided she needs warmer boots, as her feet began to freeze.
The driveway in to the camp is almost nonexistent this time of year, but the peek at the Big Lake in the distance, along with all the other snow-capped things along the way, make the trek and frozen toes worth the trip!

Great February jaunt ~ we always liked to check things out this time of the year too. Sometimes the snow wouldn't allow us to get close enough to hike in tho! Hope all was in order!

I love all of these, but especially the tree. That's such a beautiful picture of the "cotton balls" on the tree. Thanks for sharing your trip. I envy you having a camp out there.
