We experienced some warmer temperatures last week, so some of the snow on the ground has melted and settled, but there is still more than enough snow for getting out on snowshoes and exploring the woods. That's exactly what Judy Byykkonen and her "girls" did last week one day. Judy said the pups sure love to run free on her property when they take their walks with her through the woods.
While they were out there enjoying the peace and quiet, Judy discovered one of the small ponds had begun to melt with the higher than normal temperatures. She captured the reflections of the trees and the oak leaves encased between the water and the remaining ice. I can't pinpoint why, but that last shot here today is my favorite. Maybe it's seeing a remnant of fall color, rather than just the white of winter.

And then... over the weekend... snow and cold returned to the region.
I bet these leaves are now embedded in crystal :o)

Nice pictures! The weather improved out here too. Hope it stays that way, though the ice fishermen aren't thrilled!

The oak leaves out for a swim on a nice day. Hope they enjoyed it while they had the chance. It is no degrees at my house this morning. Great pictures.

And now for something different....
Nat and I were in Huntsville, Alabama over the weekend for the Tech Hockey series again UAH. There was also an Alumni party before the Saturday night game which included a pasty dinner. I asked where the pasties were from and they said "Pasty Central". I can say that everyone one enjoyed a little taste of the Keweenaw and wanted to say thanks Charlie and the crew for providing them to us.
Btw: Tech won Friday night and won in a 10 round OT shootout Saturday night!

Capt. Paul (Eclogite): "… Btw: Tech won Friday night and won in a 10 round OT shootout Saturday night!" So they did! From UAH (click →) "Chargers Tripped Up by Huskies in Series Opener". A pasty dinner from Pasty Central and a Huskies win. Hard to beat that! 😋
