In case you're wondering, yes, many of the Falls around the U.P. still have flowing water during the winter months. Some more than others as you can see in today's photos from Laurie Bashaw. She and her hubby, made visits to two very different falls, one well known and one not known as well. Laurie said they didn't need snowshoes to visit either of these falls, but were able to walk in on packed trails.

The first three photos are from the Morgan Falls, which is located on the Carp River, north of Marquette Mountain Ski Hill on County Road 553. For this trek, they walked on a groomed snowmobile trail for about 1.4 miles to get the photos, but it looks like that trek was well worth it.

The bottom three photos Laurie snapped at Bond Falls, which is on the western end of the U.P., east of Paulding. Laurie said they had to park farther away than you would in the summer, but the trail was packed down from other people and snowmobiles, so the walk in was nice. There's still a good cascade of water flowing over these falls, despite the cold and snow surrounding them. It's great to see what the falls are doing in the winter months, but I think my favorite shot for today is the visitor they ran into at Bond Falls in the last photo. What a fun greeter some previous visitor left there.

Fantastic pix...I can almost smell the freshness, as a carpenter stains a door in our new suite...with very strong, "oil-based" stain.
Now, if I could just get those elephants to come down from the ceiling.

Nice pictures of my favorite of Mother Nature's contributions, waterfalls. Thanks for sharing. I have never been to Bond Falls and these pictures made it number one of my list of things to do when the geese are going North.

Omgosh! How awesome to see these falls.
I'm really missing pictures like this.
Thanks for taking us along, Laurie☺!
