When the weather gets really cold here UP North, cold enough to turn all water to ice, climbers like Jeff LaMuth and Dave Sarazin head to Redridge, near Freda, to climb the steep ice walls there. These guys and their friends have been partaking of this winter sport for years and thoroughly enjoy themselves while doing it. The first three shots were taken by Jeff and give you a good idea of what it's like to stand right next to those steep cliffs of ice.
Dave snapped the last two photos, which show the climbers at work. The second to the last picture is actually Jeff himself getting quite close to the top of his climb. While the bottom photo shows two of the other guys in action. Note there is a person on the ground for each climber, controlling the rope that I assume is attached to the climber and above them on the cliff. Quite the daring sport and Jeff says it's always a fun time!

Wow, very impressive! You don't get the impact until you see the last couple shots.

Incredible! One could carve a gargantuan Godzilla in that ice wall, complete with a couple King Kong's.

That is amazing! That looks very scary to me, but I'm sure those guys have a passion for it.
