Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 - 10:36 am:

The annual Lake Linden-Hubbell Elementary Christmas program went off without a hitch this past Friday, despite there being three snow days last week, eliminating the time that dress rehearsals would have taken place. Jennifer Johnson Fritz is the Elementary music teacher and Director of the program, so there was no doubt that she had these kids whipped into shape to perform beautiful Christmas music for all in attendance.

Jennifer doesn't just have the children singing traditional Christmas songs, they're also playing musical instruments, using hand motions to add to the songs and all this accompanied by friend and fellow musician, Scott McIntosh and her husband Rob Fritz, who also sang O, Holy Night along with Colleen Lajimodiere, the Elementary Secretary. She surprised a number of folks in the crowd who only knew her as Miss Colleen in the office, not an accomplished singer.

Each year I wonder how Jennifer will top the program for the next year, but she always manages to do that, giving parents and grandparents moments of pride watching their children excel in music.
We have a bonus video of the finale with all the kids, grades Kindergarten through Sixth on stage and the sides, singing, Joy to the World. Thank you to Sheila Corrigan for sharing her video with us. Just click on the bottom image, sit back and enjoy!

Adorable!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 - 02:48 pm:

Nice pix! They remind me of elementary school and Mrs. Mozack, who taught us an old song that people used to sing, while picking potatoes in the fields.
It was the most pitiful song that I've ever heard in my life.

Zum, gali-gali-gali, Zum gali-gali,
Zum, gali-gali-gali, Zum gali-gali,

Hechalutz lema'an avodah
avodah lema'an hechalutz
Hechalutz lema'an avodah
avodah lema'an hechalutz

Come on now...everybody sing!

Nice pix!
I remember those days!! Always had to put on a new shirt for those performances, hated it! Dang scratchy collar!!

But when Alex, Capt., and I fell off the back of the risers, the singing some how sounded much better from then on.... go figure?!! :=)

Any of the programs involving children at Christmas, warm my
heart. That's quite the music program those kids have in Lake
Linden! I've been privileged to attend the Sunday school pageant at
my church here in Toronto and to see pictures of the one my
grandchildren participated in in Ishpeming. I enjoy the local
production of the Nutcracker put on by a neighborhood ballet
school every year more than the ones that are offered by the world's
most famous ballet companies.
