There's something quite magical about the freighters pulled up to the Marquette Harbor dockages under the cover of night lights. Danielle Adams has quite the knack for capturing the sparkle when these big freighters come to town with their cargo.
The first two shots are of the Walter J McCarthy, owned by the American Steamship Company, who was pulled up at the LS&I Ore Dock to unload their cargo of coal. Somewhat mystical looking with all the lights sparkling around the big boat.
Danielle's last capture is the Herbert C Jackson, an Interstate Steamship Company boat, over at Founders Landing to unload its cargo of limestone. Again, the bright lights grab my attention and I especially like the way the limestone pile being unloaded is lit up, making it look like a treasure being offloaded.
Indeed, being somewhat of a boatnerd myself, I always enjoy freighter shots, but add in those lights and you've photographed one of my favorite scenes for these big boats.

Didn't even have to read your message Mary to know who took these photos..... ;-)
I love those night time pictures with the boats all lit up. Thanks for taking the time to take the pictures and sharing them.

I don't think mystical. I think party boat (even though I know they are all business).
