Sally Watters, of StixNStonezArt.com, spotted several big boats from her Jacobsville home last week and said that it was quite an amazing sight to see both of the boats out there together.
The top photo and the video clip are of the USCG Cutter Alder, who was in the canal to take out the buoys for the upcoming winter months. Sally said what powerful motors these bigger boats have, as she could hear the motor running out in front of their place on Lake Superior. Sally went to the Jacobsville/White City pier to watch the Alder go down the canal and had no idea it was going to give her a toot, but she managed to record a bit of it on video to share with us, too. Just click on the video photo (third picture) and it should play.
The second photo is a freighter off in the distance from Sally's home. She said she wished she had a telephoto lens to zoom in a bit more, but it stayed there overnight and into the day, due to the winds and waves that had built on Lake Superior. The freighters look for a safe harbor when the November winds blow the Big Lake into a frenzy.
And of course we couldn't let the opening day of firearm deer season go by without wishing success and safety to all our deer hunting viewers. I wonder how many of them check out the Pasty Cam while they're waiting the a big one to come along?
