If you check back on the link supplied here: May 26, 2016, the Pasty Cam featured information about the North Woods Conservancy's second annual photo contest that ran until September 26th.
John Dodge is back to report on the winners here today. The following is an excerpt from the press realease he sent about the winning entries:

"The winners of the North Woods Conservancy's 2016 "Get to Know the North Woods" photo contest have been selected.
First Place: Thunder Spray, by Dennis Hake of Brownstown, MI
Second Place: Autumn Begins, by Dennis Hake of Brownstown, MI
Third Place: Driftwood Beach, by Eric Stewart of Granville, OH
Honorary Category: Searching the Cosmos, by Quinn Kaspriak

An interesting footnote here, is that back on September 26th of this year, we featured the third place winning photo from Eric Stewart, along with several other of his photos from a trip he took here UP North.

It's obvious why these won! Gorgeous! Hard to make a choice, but i think the last one is my favorite!

That bat in 2003 gives me the creeps!! But his photograph is well timed for Halloween.

My favorite is the Honorary winner. That splash of Northern Lights just beyond the beach gazer captures the U.P. experience. That beam of light through Superior's mist and on through the big dipper is brilliant. It would have my nomination for the front cover of the 2017 Pasty Cam calendar :o)
