Last Thursday, the skies cleared of the clouds that had been hanging over us all here UP North and we were all treated to some brilliant Northern Lights as a reward for all those overcast days in a row. Fred Koski was up late to snap a few shots of the night lights dancing and lighting the sky and the quiet surface of Lake Superior, too.
If you've never seen an Aurora Borealis in person, then good quality photos like Fred's are the next best thing. They preserve that beauty created in the night skies so we can enjoy the scene any time of day or night.
Fred has a wide variety of subjects he photographs, so if you'd like to see more of his work, you can check out his Facebook page here (make sure you take the time to "LIKE" his page): Fred Koski on Facebook Or here: Fred Koski Photography website

Great pictures. The Northern Lights are the only one of Mother Nature's spectacular sights that surpasses the beauty of a waterfalls. At least in my eyes.

Beautiful photos! Jeff, I feel your pain. We were in Lake Linden the week after Labor Day and tried to get up every night to see if anything was happening in the sky. I know it's silly, but I have NEVER seen the Northern Lights either! Well, we didn't have any luck again this year, but the lady that owns the cottage sent me a photo of the beautiful Northern Lights that appeared right in front of the cabin only two days after we left!!! I guess I'll just have to try again next year, but I'm not getting any younger!!!

The first time I saw the Northern Lights was when Bob & I were on a snowmobile vacation. We stayed at the King Copper Motel. We left the Mariner where we had supper walked back to the King Copper and were treated by the Northern Lights dancing throughout the skies.

I will never get tired of seeing the Northern Lights; no matter how good the pics are they cannot capture how spectacular they are to see them. I have seen some fabulous Northern Lights on Isle Royale over the years and also when I worked on the lake freighters. Great pics.

On our way to the U.P. tomorrow morning. Hope I have a chance to see the Northern Lights do their dance while I am up there.
Thanks for the lovely photos, Fred Koski.
