Sally Beaudette and her husband Ron took a ride north so they could check out how the fall colors are progressing. Riding the Mt. Bohemia Chair Lift up to the top sure gave them a great view of the surrounding forest lands all dressed in autumn.
Not only did they enjoy the color changes, but they made a couple other stops along the way. One not so well known, the Popeye rock, that's located on the cut-off road from US41 to Eagle Harbor. It's had various paintings of Popeye on it throughout the years. There is an earlier version of it from 1999, where it looks like the rock is much bigger or maybe just a different angle? Check it out on the following link: 1999 Popeye painting.
The last photo is a stop many of you will recognize. The Keweenaw Snow Thermometer, located on US 41, between Mohawk and Phoenix and alongside a great little roadside park to stop for a picnic and photo ops. It is maintained by the Keweenaw County Road Commission and marks the record low, the record high, the average and the current snowfall for the year. Quite a unique attraction!

Looks like there is still a while before peak, unless Sally & Ron were out touring a couple weeks back. The chair lifts are a great way to get a view of the countryside, whatever the stage of color change!

Very nice photos, the chair lift ride is a great way to see the Fall colors! Stood where they are standing in the first picture many times, great viewing spot! Did not know about the Popeye rock, will have to check that out one day.
Have a great weekend All!

Seems the U.P. has the best of Michigan's scenery.
