Today's visit to Fayette State Park near Garden, MI is brought to you by Bob Schwarzkopf, also known as "Old Toot" here on the Pasty Cam. Bob, his wife Diane and their four-legged friend, Sophie were here UP North and spent some time looking around Fayette and further north, Michigamme, among other places.

Their tour of the Michigamme Historical museum included a closer look at the horse drawn, 1900 Steamer Fire Truck on display there. Bob said that years ago, it was sold for a few thousand dollars and then later bought back for $150,000. Doing a Google Search, I was able to find that it was originally sold in the early 1960's and was bought back to reside in the museum in 2007. This link gives you the background on the fire truck and it's history: Michigamme Steamer Comes Home.

Bob's last photo is representative of what is happening all across the U.P. this time of year. The temps are falling (at times much lower than pictured), right along with the leaves. The color season is upon us in varying degrees, depending on where you are. Fall is definitely in the air!

That time of year again. In a dark spruce forest-two lakes and a stream crossing from our deer camp here in the U.P., I have discovered a place of mystery and wonder. In those quiet woods I sense the primeval, as if no one has stood there before.

Great way to enjoy the color ~ with lots of history included. And looks like some great weather for them too! Interesting how the leaf is half & half!

Autumn in the U.P. is quite lovely.

I remember going to Fayette on the Wing and then continuing on to the end of that peninsula, which reminded my of a New England fishing village...what a great ride.

Nice places to visit, both of them. Neat looking two colored leaf.
Often thought of going to Fayette
Haven't made it yet,
But I will I bet.

Planning to be in the U.P. at the latter part of next week. Hope
those beautiful colors hold up that long!
