Ashlee Harvey has a yard full of chickens, which are then technically called free range chickens, since they are out there pecking at seed and eating grass. They sure have some beautiful dark colors and I bet they lay the best brown eggs you've ever tasted. With fall in the air these layers will be moving inside soon.

Speaking of fall... it's that time of year for harvesting the bounty from the garden and preserving what you can for the winter months. Ashlee has some tomatoes still ripening and has been busy cutting the corn off the cobs for canning. Looks like her family will be enjoying their garden well into the cold, snowy season, too.

The pay off for all your hard work! Hmmm, looks a lot like the dinner we're having tonight (including the chicken!) Sorry ladies!

These pictures remind me of my co-workers hobby
farm. She's got chickens and pigs and, of course,
dogs and cats. We've gotten our cats from her.
And it's so great to have fresh eggs from her all
the time. She sells her chickens, too. And she
grows all of her own herbs and veggies. Hats off
to these people who go through all of that work.
Way to go, Ashlee. And the pictures are good also.
And, very nice review!

Those chicks are strutt'n their stuff.

I think it's amazing all the people everywhere
that are now raising their own laying hens. Right
here in the "big cities" down south, more and more
city councils are approving chickens (hens only)
on private property.
