Liz Gilreath ran the Soo Festival 7 mile race recently, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and her hubby, Bob Gilreath was on hand to document the event with photos. She wore a bright pink headband, so Bob would be able to spot her from below, since a good portion of the race included running across the International Bridge between Michigan and Canada. Pretty neat that Bob even captured a shot of Liz on the Bridge, as she crossed over from the USA to Canada. After seeing that shot, I wondered then if in order to run in the race, you needed to have a passport or an enhanced drivers license. Hopefully Bob will chime in and let us know the answer to that one.
Bob said the race started at the crack of dawn and you can see in the first few photos that the runners had light jackets on, so it must have been a brisk morning, but by the time Liz had crossed the bridge to Canada and back again, she had warmed up enough to take the jacket off to finish up the race. What a fun setting to hold a race…I don't know if you can normally walk or run on the International Bridge, except the day of the International Bridge walk the end of June, so it makes this Festival Run all the more exciting for the participants. Way to go Liz!

I knew about the International Bridge Walk (done that 3 times), but not this. Interesting.

Nice event! Did anyone stop by the Duty Free and pick up some fine cigars and a single malt scotch for Capt. and me?

I agree Deb! And the road in 2010 is my favorite.... those misty Autumn drives are the best!
