Seen in a previous Shoebox Memory, the young couple on the right above were reunited this afternoon, when Joyce Hart peacefully passed away at the age of 95.
If you're acquainted with Camp Gitche Gumee in Eagle River, you'll recognize Charles Hart, camp director from the late '50's to the '70's. Charles took over from his Father-in-law John Rader (Joyce's Dad), who founded the camp in 1930, and he passed the baton to Mel Jones. More recently the Camp has a new director - Robby Fischer - who is a grandson of the Hart's.
Joyce Hart has a technical connection with Pasty Central... Near the beginning of the pasty project, Joyce offered some insight into the way Gitche Gumee would mix up some ingredients ahead of time, which expedited making large quantities. She was definitely a recipe lady, as well as a poet. Edie and I had our final visit with the Hart's a few years back, which I recounted earlier today on Facebook.
Our condolences to the extended Hart family. We will always fondly remember this lovely Copper Country couple.
Have a good week :o)

What a blessed promise Joyce had, that she could look forward to that reunion! God bless and comfort her family.

How are things going, Janie & Deb?
Sounds like there is a bit of good news with lower river crests than they feared.
