Eric Stewart and a friend made the trip over to Isle Royale to do some kayaking, camping and hiking. They take us along on a portion of the trip, starting out on a foggy morning in Rock Harbor where the kayaks are loaded and ready for paddling.

We're at Daisy Farm in the third photo, looking out toward Middle Isle Passage and the Rock Harbor Lighthouse (in photo number four). Then on to where Rolf and Carolyn Peterson's summer research headquarters are located, with a look at the antler collection they have found throughout the summer there.

The last view was snapped from Tooker's Island and shows the beauty you see every day when over there. I don't think there's a bad view from anywhere on this National Park, out in the waters of Lake Superior. Eric included a special treat for us all, with a video standing at the top of the Rock Harbor Lighthouse, taking in the view of Lake Superior and the Island. It gives you an idea of the peace and quiet over there, with just the sound of the waves crashing. It truly is a magical place!

Great pictures of the island. I like the picture of the lighthouse. One doesn't often see a picture of the lighthouse that includes the capstan. Thanks for sharing your adventure. I must confess that I am a firm believer in the internal combustion engine when it comes to a means of conveyance.
